After registration, Anglers may be on the water before 6:15 am , but cannot wet hook until official start time at 6:15 am. Weigh-in on the old marina point at 2:00 pm , and the heaviest 3-bass limit will determine the top money winners. Youngsters under 17 (with an adult contestant) get to enter FREE as My guests. Come join us for some Fun Fishing ... and Good Luck -------------------------------------------- Congratulations to NATHAN SWEET of Borger for winning the March 21 event at Greenbelt with a 3-bass limit that tipped the scales at 8.39 lbs. It was the first tournament win for this 15 year old who has fished Fun Tournaments for years and his winning lure was a 1/2 oz brown jig with a #11 PorkFrog. 2nd place honors went to Richard Beilue of Dumas with a 3-bass limit that weighed 7.88. Richard is a veteran of many decades of the bass wars capped off a fine day of fishing by winning the $50 Luck of the Draw which is held at the end of each weigh-in. 3rd place went Nathan's dad (a title he might start getting used to hearing) RODNEY SWEET of Borger with 3-bass at 6.44 lbs. and as is normal the Sweets were using jig-n-pigs to add the anchor bass that usually determine who wins and who just places in the top ten in bass tournaments. The Sweet family was named the 2009 Angler of The Year at the recent OUTDOOR WORLD BOAT & RV SHOW in Amarillo, and Nathan's win made it more complete as he joined Zane and Rodney in the winner's circle. (a rough count has the Sweet family now winning over 35 Fun Tournaments since they began back in 1990. Other anglers and their weights in the Top Ten included Denny Rogers of Borger at 6.33 lbs., Austin (40 keepers and no anchor fish) McWhorter of Amarillo at 6.21 lbs., Dondi "OU" Brame of Borger and in the boat with the Sweet's at 5.27 lbs., Derek Hoffman of Canyon at 4.76 lbs., TOC winner Duane Mansel of Amarillo at 4.75 lbs., Joseph Gutierrez of Amarillo at 4.60 lbs. 10th place and $100 went to Amarillo's Ronnie Coburn with 3.31 lbs. TAKE A KID FISHING and HUNTING--The youngster will never forget it, and you'll never regret it recent Press Releases Deadly GOLDEN ALGAE again KILLING FISH at PK Thursday, January 29, 2009 Possum Kingdom was sampled for golden algae by Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists Jan. 21 at 14 separate sites. Scenic Point and South D&D contained no golden alga cells. The dam, Hell’s Gate, South Broadway, the state park, Sandy Beach, North D&D, Sam’s, Ranger Slough, Peanut Patch, Willow Beach, the airport and Rock Creek Camp all contained low concentrations of golden alga cells. Yellow-green water was seen from Sandy Beach to Rock Creek and a group of birds was observed in the area of the airport. Rock Creek Camp was experiencing a fish kill comprised of small threadfin shad. Biologists reported that the kill is progressing down the reservoir. It remains concentrated north of Costello Island in the north arm, but discolored water and “patchy� blooms are evident as far south as the state park and Sandy Beach near Broadway.
