Two weeks ago I talked to Darren Mooneyham, who is now at the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas recovering from a very serious auto accident that happened as he and Will Bivins were driving down to Lake Falcon. He was a bit groggy from pain meds, but he is lucky to be alive after being involved with head on accident from another vehicle that blew out a tire and hit Darren's vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Thanks to wearing seat belts, Will is fine and Darren should recover from... a broken ankle, a broken hip and a severely broken arm. His recovery will take time, many surgeries, and lots of rehab, but.... he will recover. Say a prayer for all involved in this auto accident ... and WEAR your seat belt every time you start up your car. Deadly GOLDEN ALGAE again KILLING FISH at PK Thursday, January 29, 2009 Possum Kingdom was sampled for golden algae by Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists Jan. 21 at 14 separate sites. Scenic Point and South D&D contained no golden alga cells. The dam, Hell’s Gate, South Broadway, the state park, Sandy Beach, North D&D, Sam’s, Ranger Slough, Peanut Patch, Willow Beach, the airport and Rock Creek Camp all contained low concentrations of golden alga cells. Yellow-green water was seen from Sandy Beach to Rock Creek and a group of birds was observed in the area of the airport. Rock Creek Camp was experiencing a fish kill comprised of small threadfin shad. Biologists reported that the kill is progressing down the reservoir. It remains concentrated north of Costello Island in the north arm, but discolored water and “patchy� blooms are evident as far south as the state park and Sandy Beach near Broadway. Small shad continue to die, but birds are eating them very quickly. ** A new boat dealership has opened at Lake Alan Henry. Hook and Anchor Marine is located 1/2 way between Justiceburg and Alan Henry. **The new GANDER MTN store is open in Lubbock. Stop by and see them ** ZEBCO buys four fishing lines -- red Cajun now a Zebco product Jarden Corporation (Coleman) Acquires Pure Fishing, Inc.(Berkley) ** Rapala to Acquire Terminator Fishing Lures. ** RAPALA and RANGER BOATS team up to help anglers *** Outdoor Life and the Field and Stream magazines are sold by Time Warner...to a Swedish company !!
