BILLY MOORE WINS AT LAKE GREENBELT, JULY 11, 2002
First place was worth $660 to
Amarillo's Billy Moore who used a small YELLOW grub to
catch 3
bass that weighed 8.55 lbs. As the trout anglers have
known for years, Maybe bassers should pay more attention
to the insects as they hatch. Of course, bassers also
need to stay attuned to baitfish, this is the FIRST time
in 14 years of Fun Tournaments that a top fininhing
angler has used an insect hatch to win one of our
tournaments. Good job Billy.
Second Place went to Amarillo's
BRENDAN BROWN with three bass that weighed 8.43 lbs.
Brendan earned $264 and used a Zara Pup in the baby bass
pattern.
JEFF ALEXANDER OF Fritch nailed
down third place by using a green pepper Senko to catch
3 bass that weighed 7.19 lbs and took home $134.
Fourth Place and $66 went to
BOBBY BROWN, who used an OUGGIE Buzzbait to catch 3 bass
at 6.20 lbs. 40 of the 66 anglers caught and weighed
keeper bass, but most caught just a single keeper
despite the low water conditions.. Wonder what insects
will be hatching then??? Fishing is an endless learning
process, and WHY so many of us love the challenge.
Remember -- Catch and RELEASE
is the key to good fishing next year.
