Tournament of Champions

LAKE Meredith, July 21, 2001

Lake Meredith July 21. 2001 Gutierrez "TOPS" the field for his fourth Fun Fishing Victory
Amarillo's Joseph Gutierez notched his fourth Fun Fishing victory (and second in the past 10 days) when he used a red/white chugger to catch a terrific 7.25 lb. largemouth bass from the murky waters of Lake Meredith. His $25 entry fee earned him $350 to go with the $480 from last weeks win at Greenbelt. WAY TO GO, Joseph.

Second place and $140 went to David McPherson of Plainview for his nice black bass that weighed 4.96 lbs., and was caught on a Madman tubeCraw.

Third place went to RICHARD BEILUE of Dumas with a three-bass limit of keeper bass that weighed 4.70 lbs. Beilue used a green tube bait and worked the main lake cuts. Fourth place went to Kris Bosley of Canyon with a nice bass that weighed 4.26 lbs. Summer and the high temps have locked the bass into a summer pattern. Some fish will hit a fast moving topwater bait like a buzzbait, while other bass prefer a "laying there" chugger style lure.
