Holding on to their first day lead of
10.63 lbs., the team of Ty Pruett and Kelly Smith won
with a two-day total of 13.22 lbs. Lure was a green
pepper tube, a watermelon (red and green flakes) in the
shallows on rockys banks.
Second place and $320 went to Borger's
Rodney Sweet and Dondi "OU" Brame with a two-day total
of 10.34 lbs. Their most productive lures were
watermelon chompers on the rocks
Third place went to Borger team of
Mike Harber and Larry Byrd with 9.95 lbs. They used
small jigs and white flukes just past the horseshoe bend
area.
4th place went to the team of Dennis
STidham and Robby Calhoun who used green jigs, white
flukes, green tubes, and chartreuse spinnerbaits in the
shallows to catch 9.94 lbs.
Team Taylor (Tim and his dad D) used
green senko's and a POP-R at sunrise to catch 9.15 lbs.
Shallow bite was better
than the deeper bite, even after sunrise.
A white Senko in shallow water did
well for the team of Kyle Beckner (Clovis) and Cale
Sanders (Portales) as they caught 9.01 lbs. by fishing
the shallow waters.
The only other team reporting a
topwater bite was Chester Hales and Kolton Wood who
cagut 8.25 lbs. on a Black Ouggie Buzzbait.
Second day was tougher on all anglers
because of the boat traffic. The major surprise of this
tournament was the lack of bass that were caught deeper
than 4 feet. There must be some deep water fish, but 64
anglers failed to find them at this tournament.
Good luck to all the anglers who are
competing in the NM B.A.S.S. Federation tournament on
June 12, 13.
Since
I have tried to give you guys the results of the TEAM
Tournament, I would appreciate hearing a report rom the
NM Federation...... THANKS , MELman
It was a great weekend for the Pruett
family, as Ty's dad Richard won the Hereford Bass Club
tournament. Over a thousand dollars to the Pruetts --
and lots of smiles.
The bass at Ute are quickly
changing to their summer pattern and the early or the
late day bite are THE times to be on the lakes in our
region. Other June Fun Tournaments include June 10,
Thursday evening 6-9 at Meredith, June 19, Saturday at
Lake Alan Henry, and June 24, Thursday evening 6-9 at
Greenbelt. Come join us if you can.
